Tarmac (including driveways)

Groundwork and Leisure Services Ltd (GLS) lay tarmac throughout Cheshire, Wirral and Wrexham with our main office being situated close to Wrexham and a smaller satellite office on the outskirts of Chester city centre. GLS have the necessary machinery and skilled labour to deal with any sized area of tarmac you require laying, from a small drive to the largest car parks and highways. GLS invests in the latest equipment and endeavours to keep up to date on industry developments; ensuring clients receive the widest choice of quality laid surfaces.

There are literally dozens of different types of 'tarmacadam'. Different aggregates, different aggregate sizes, different binders, different binder colours, the list goes on and on. In fact there is a whole arm of the construction industry devoted to the specification of various materials and the development of new products.

With all this in mind GLS work closely with tarmac producers to ensure the correct tarmacadam is selected for your application. This close relationship with producers and quarries allows us to offer a ‘5 Year Tarmac Stone Guarantee ask for details.

To compliment our Tarmac laying service we also offer a comprehensive thermoplastic line marking service. Parking bays, directional arrows, disabled only parking reserved for: can all be marked out with long lasting, self cleaning thermoplastic lines in a variety of widths and colours. Ask for more details on permanent line marking services.

Tarmac is still a very popular surface for drives, as it is hardwearing, maintenance free and can be coloured with coloured binders or decorated with coloured chippings and block pavers & granite set edgings.

Also a popular choice in the driveway market is block pavers. Available in a number of colours and having the capacity to be laid in various patterns to compliment and enhance their surrounding environment, block pavers offer a more decorative although slightly less durable alternative to tarmac.

A more recent development in the tarmaccadam industry is bonded gravel. Bonded gravel involves the same principle layers to a tarmac surface (Sub-base, Base (optional dependent on application), Binder Course) but instead of laying a tarmac surface layer (surface course); decorative stone is laid in a clear binder. In addition to the hard wearing and maintenance free properties of tarmac, bonded gravel offers a particularly attractive, high grip surface with a ‘Full 7 Year Guarantee, for added piece of mind.
